Is the change inevitable?

It is quite a while that I analyzed political situation of our country. Election is around the corner. Many think-tanks and other organizations are making predication. Many of the surveys are one sided without proper ground observations.

The statement made by Director of CID Bukit Aman, Datuk Seri Mohd Bakri Zinin [Source: Bernama] yesterday stating that the PDRM will be neutral and won't take any sides actually inspired me to write this piece of opinion.

For the first time in the history of Malaysian elections a high rank police officer made such a statement. Apart from that ex-top officers of our military who aligned with other side is another indication that the change is inevitable.

Further the government's domestic and external debt [Source: Free Malaysia Today]as below is an added indication which become clearer, the change is unavoidable.

There are clear signs which I had observed since 2008 and for example, the desperation of the current establishment to win over the people. Whether they will succeed or not, the result of forthcoming election will indicate and determine.

By applying model on rise and fall of an empire which popularized by Immanuel Wallerstein - The Modern World-System he argued that every empire will rise and fall. This is known as rhythmic cycles. The examples of the rise and fall of Germany, British Empire, Marcos and LDP of Japan proved the effectiveness of this theory. He further said when they fall they seemed to be weak and will engage desperate measures to be retained in power. That's another sign which can observed in our country now.

Whether we as the people of Malaysia will accept and embrace the change of political situation or not?

The indications had showed that the people are ready. They are mature enough to handle this situation.

Then again, whether there will be any instability or not. Most likely the transition will be very smooth. That's because of the statement made by Director of CID, PDRM which actually assured the public impliedly that the police will play their role to uphold the peace and security of our beloved nation.

I want to end this note with the observation on natural law and rule of law. The nature is so mighty. If you do good to the nature then the nature will rewards you. If you do bad then the nature will punish you. The propositions advocated by A.V. Dicey on rule of law which stated that,
  1. No one can be punished or made to suffer except for a breach of law proved in an ordinary court.
  2. No one is above the law and everyone is equal before the law regardless of social, economic, or political status.
  3. The rule of law includes the results of judicial decisions determining the rights of private persons.
need to observe and follow by the future establishment for benefit of people of this country as a whole. The national interests must always give the highest priority and above any individual interest per se. The doctrine of separation of powers must be incorporated well where the independence of our judiciary need to be further enhanced.

Thank you.

Kuala Lumpur.

Brexit: A lesson for Malaysians

Yesterday, Britons through a referendum made a decision to leave European Union. The ruling Conservative Party divided on this referendum and David Cameron in favour of ‘Remain’ was defeated outright. Even though he is disagreed with the decision of Britons, he announced that he is resigning from his premiership in respect of people’s decision. We can expect in a mature democracy country like United Kingdom this is vastly anticipated to be transpired.   A few days ago, the current Chief Commissioner of Malaysian Anti-Corruption of Commission made a statement that he is stepping down from his position and there are some rumours indicating that a few prominent officers from the said Commission will either resign or retire. It’s very eccentric news for Malaysians as it will have a profound impact on bribery and corruption issues in Malaysia as a whole. Recently, the results of two by elections were won by Barisan Nasional, the ruling party of Malaysia. Many promises had been...

Trump's role in the Israel-Hamas ceasefire

As the Israel-Hamas ceasefire, scheduled to commence on Jan 19, 2025, approaches, it is essential to examine the potential impact of president-elect Donald Trump on this event and Middle East security. Considering Trump’s past foreign policy actions, especially those concerning Israel, alongside the wider geopolitical environment, his prospective role in shaping the ceasefire and future peace initiatives is intricate and layered. Historical influence Trump’s initial term as president was characterised by a robust endorsement of Israel, a position that resonated with his domestic political supporters and simultaneously altered US foreign policy, thereby impacting the wider dynamics of the Middle East. Key actions during this period included the formal acknowledgement of Jerusalem as the capital of Israel, the transfer of the US embassy to that city, and the withdrawal from the 2015 Iran nuclear agreement. These measures solidified his rapport with Israeli leadership and exemplified his ...
