Just now the election rallies
ended officially. Less than 9 hours, many Malaysians going to cast their vote. The
important issues after the election will be on peace and security of our
nation.
The PRDM (POLICE) and RAF (Royal Arm
Forces) of Malaysia are on prepared to handle any sort of issues on the
security of our country.
If otherwise happened then what
is the position of forces to handle the delicate issues peacefully.
Let’s we look into the process of
pronouncing an emergency state in Malaysia.
The Yang di-Pertuan Agong (YDPA)
may issue a Proclamation of Emergency if he is satisfied that a grave emergency
exists which threatens the security, economic life or public order of the
country.
The YDPA’s decision cannot be challenged in
any court under any grounds.
During an emergency, the YDPA may
promulgate emergency ordinances and Parliament may pass emergency laws.
Such ordinances and laws must not
violate any Islamic law or any provisions in the Constitution relating to
religion, citizenship or language but shall otherwise be valid even if their
provisions are inconsistent with the Constitution.
Since ‘Merdeka’ (independence),
four emergencies have been proclaimed.
In 1964, a nationwide emergency imposed
due to the Indonesia-Malaysia confrontation. Then, in 1966 due to the Stephen
Kalong Ningkan political crisis, the emergency only declared in Sarawak. Later
in 1969, a state emergency was professed because of the May 13 riots which were
politically engineered. Lastly in 1977, due to a state political crisis an
emergency was declared.
If anyone to be feared that the
May 13 going to occur again is a myth. That’s because May 13 can be categorized
as a conflict between two factions who are divided well with race and religion
factors.
But the current awakening status
quo is very much changed. The conflict now is between poor and rich; most
powerful and least powerful; mass and elite; and bad and good.
For each category there are
people from different religions and races. That’s the reason one can see the
waves of dissatisfaction across all sort of people.
If someone wanted to create chaos
for one race or religious people, others will act as a shield to protect them.
That’s the reality now. All
Malaysians had realized the important of unity. Therefore one should not to be
feared that May 13 going reoccurred again in Malaysia because the divide and
rule policy is no longer applicable and workable.
The May 13 should be remembered as a
history of our country and nothing more than that to be used as the tool to
scare off our society.
Thus one goes to polling centre
today without fear to cast their vote for the betterment of our country. In
meanwhile we have to salute our enforcement and security agencies courage to be
neutral and fair.
Kuala Lumpur.
